Water Ministery, stakeholders inaugurate consultative session over emergency urban services

Minister of Water and Environment, Eng. Tawfik Al-Sharjabi and the First Deputy Governor of Aden, Muhammad Nasr Shadhly, inaugurated today in the temporary capital a consultative session with stakeholders over the emergency urban services project in Yemen "Phase Two".

In the session, the Minister stressed the importance of the project in providing basic services in the fields of water, sanitation, health, education, public works and other sectors in a number of major cities at a cost of $76 million.

He stressed the need for these projects to take into account the priority needs , sustainability, implications and consequences.

Minister Al-Sharjabi touched on addressing the water problem in the temporary capital, Aden, and the need to introduce new water sources, including supplying the city of Aden with water from Al-Rawh field located in the Abyan governorate to keep pace with the population increase in the city, as well as improving electrical power.
