BRUSSELS - SABA
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ahmad Bin Mubarak discussed Thursday with members of the Political and Security Committee, which includes the 27 countries of the EU a number of issues associated with the political situation and peace process in Yemen.
Bin Mubarak briefed the committee with latest developments and efforts for realizing peace in Yemen, pointing out that the government has been involved positively in efforts of the UN envoy to Yemen and supports the current suggestion for ceasefire supported by international committee.
He confirmed that Houthi militia rejects the suggestion for the ceasefire, reopening Sana'a Airport and allocating incomes for paying salaries of government's employees, pointing out that this stubbornness hinders any progress in peace process and returning to dialogue.
He talked about Houthi militia's breaches of any agreement, pointing out to Stockholm Agreement, which was utilized by the militia to summon its forces for attacking Marib.
He touched upon the environmental danger posed by Safir Oil Tanker and Houthi militia's rejection to UN efforts for fixing it, calling upon the EU and Green Parties to shed lights on this issue.
For their part, the members of the EU political committee focused on seizing the current opportunity for realizing peace and working on ending Yemen's humanitarian crisis.
They confirmed their countries' support Yemeni people via humanitarian assistances and support to Yemen's unity, security and stability.
