The Yemeni Journalists Syndicates condemned on Wednesday the Southern Transitional Council’s seizure of the headquarters of the state-run news agency Saba in Aden.
The director of the Media Department at the STC rebel militia and gunmen escorting him had seized the premises in al-Tawahi in the temporary capital Aden earlier on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Syndicate said it has “received a report from Saba agency that these STC gangs barred the general manager of the office from entry and drove away the employees and civilian guards of the premises asking them to abandon it for good.”
The STC gunmen took the office keys from the employees at gunpoint, the employees told the Syndicate.
The Syndicate called on the de facto authorities in Aden to stop these arbitrary practices and guarantee the safety of Saba premises and its staff and ensure that the attackers are held accountable.
The Syndicate also said the STC bears full responsibility, calling on it to stop implicating media premises and media personnel in political and military conflicts.
