FM discusses with UN envoy latest developments in Yemen

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ahmad Awadh Bin Mubarak discussed Wednesday with UN Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths latest developments and international efforts for stopping the war.

The two parties discussed also efforts for realizing inclusive and permanent peace on the bases of the three internationally agreed upon references; the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and UN Resolution 2216.

Bin Mubarak confirmed support of the internationally recognized government to efforts of the UN envoy, reflecting keenness for ending humanitarian suffering caused by Houthi militia coup against the constitutional legitimacy, pointing out to significance of international community's pressure on the militia to respond to peace efforts.

He pointed out to military and humanitarian situation in Marib, confirming that all Houthi militia suicide attempts in the province have failed and has become aware that it is impossible to realize its backward agenda in Yemen.

He warned of dangerous situation of Safir Oil Tanker over Houthi militia tricks with international community and banning access to UN technical team to inspect the tanker, pointing out that the government has always warned against that and called for taking serious position to avoid impending environment disaster in Yemen and the region.

For his part, the UN envoy expressed appreciation to government's position supporting peace, pointing out to results of his efforts during the past period.

He renewed commitment of the international community to exert all efforts for pushing peace process forward until realizing security and peace to Yemeni people.
