Yemen’s Information Minister said the indicators of flow of fuel supplies to the Houthi militia-controlled territories “refutes again the Houthi claim of a [Saudi] blockade” on Yemen.

Muammar al-Eryani said “in the first half of April 276,503 metric tons of oil” entered Yemen, a quantity that “meets the average civil and humanitarian needs in all parts of Yemen for 20 days. In a statement to Saba, he said, “70% of that quantity was delivered to Houthi-controlled territories via land transportation at a daily average of 12,000 metric tons. “The militia diverted it to the black market,” he said.

The minister said the militia “make up fuel crisis in their areas of control to help their black market thrive and loot people’s
pockets to finance the militia’s war” against the government-administered territories.

They “continue to exploit the fuel crisis and humanitarian suffering to achieve political and material gains” for themselves,
he said, calling it “a systematic impoverishment and starvation policy.”
