The Vice President of the Republic (Lt Gen) Ali Mohsen Saleh met today here with the Swedish Special Representative to Yemen Peter Semneby.
The session intended to discuss the latest developments about the ongoing peace efforts including the Saudi recent proposition to end the Yemeni crisis and reach comprehensive peace.
Mohsen highly praised the Swedish active contribution to the efforts aiming to achieve peace in Yemen.
the Vice President talked about a range of topics pertaining to the ongoing efforts to achieve peace, most important of all is the recent initiative suggested by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which immediately welcomed by the Yemeni legitimate government which has always been very keen to make peace and put an end of the Yemeni peoples suffering.
Mohsen described the Saudi proposal is a constructive move demonstrates that brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are keen to realize permanent peace in Yemen, re-establish security, stability and push the development and constructive drive.
The Vice President stated that the Saudi proposition will reveal whether the Houthis care about ending the Yemeni peoples' ordeal or they just want to capitalize on the humanitarian crisis to gain personal benefits and increase the Iranian influence in Yemen. He called on the International Community to act firmly toward the Houthi militia's intransigence and rejecting all peace initiatives.
Mohsen pointed out to the Houthi militia's continuing military operations against different Yemeni cities including the governorate of Marib which is housing three million IDPs, besides firing ballistic missiles and drones toward the brethren in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Swedish diplomat reiterated his country's support for the legitimate government and the UN-led efforts to make peace and put an end of the Yemeni peoples' suffering.
