Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Wa'id Batheeb held virtual discussions today with the Head of International Cooperation Team in the EU Mission to Yemen Karolina Hedstorm.
The video conference discussions dealt with the development action-plans and priorities in Yemen.
Dr. Batheeb presented brief overview on the political and economic situations and challenges, citing the government's plans and efforts to manage the economic hardships and achieve the urgently needed economic recovery.
He also highlighted the deteriorated humanitarian situations and challenges facing the humanitarian and relief actions, mainly the Houthi militia's violations and interventions in the actions of the relief and humanitarian international organizations.
The Minister voiced the Yemeni government's thanks and gratitude to the EU for its significant contribution to the humanitarian and relief efforts in Yemen.
He mentioned the EU contribution to the UN Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen 2021 with $116 million and $260 million in aid to development programs and projects during 2020-2021.
The Representatives of Sweden, Netherlands, Ireland, Hungary, Belgium, Germany and France contributed to the discussions.
