Yemen, Tunisia discuss activating joint committees

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ahmed Bin Mubarak discussed Wednesday with Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs Othman al-Girandi on the sidelines of the 155th Round of Arab Foreign Ministers activating of joint committees between the two countries and boosting signed protocols and agreements.

Bin Mubarak reviewed latest developments in Yemen and international initiatives for realizing peace in Yemen, the most recent one of which appointing an envoy for the US President to Yemen for supporting UN envoy's efforts.

He confirmed that the government is dealing positively with all political initiatives for realizing permanent peace on the bases of the three references; the GCC Initiative, the Outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and UN Resolution 2216.

He pointed out that Houthi militia is making use from all political initiatives led by Stockholm Agreement for strengthening its military forces and proved through recent military escalation in Marib and targeting displaced people that it does not believe in peace at all.

For his part, the Tunisian foreign minister reconfirmed his country's position for supporting the legitimacy in Yemen and continuous keenness on Yemen's unity, security and stability.

He confirmed that the Republic of Tunisia will work through its membership in the Security Council to support Yemen's issue and all initiatives for ending the war and regaining the state in Yemen and its institutions from Houthi coup.
