Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Wa'id Batheeb, along with Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation and Fishery Wealth Salim al-Suqatri, have agreed with the Regional Director of the World Bank Marina Webs on mobilizing additional support of USD 127 million for supporting agricultural and fishery sector.

Held through video conferencing on Wednesday, the meeting came after discussing a proposal for a new food security response project.

The support and the project aimed at improving provision of food to farmers and fishermen and food access in targeted areas for boosting Yemeni society on survivor and alleviating food security needs.

The project also seeks to improve income of rural family and increasing agricultural, animal and fishery production, as well as improving rural family's nutrition and improving food security.

Planning Minister confirmed significance of inclusive and long-lasting response plan to food security through sustainable support for increasing agricultural and fishery production and enabling them to export their products.

Meanwhile, minister al-Suqatri reviewed situations of fishery and agricultural sectors and significance of long-lasting interventions.

For her part, the WB's official talked about latest developments of food security and component of the new response project, pointing out to significance of the project for boosting local institutions.

She confirmed that they plan to expand interventions in field of fishery wealth.
