RIYADH - SABA
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Ahmed Awadh bin Mubarak held discussions today with the US Special Envoy to Yemen Timothy Lenderking.
Bin Awadh detailed Lenderking on the Houthi militia's ongoing military escalations on Marib, Taiz and Hodiedah.
He stated that the Houthi militia's continuing military operations on Marib, indiscriminately shelling on residential areas in Taiz and Hodeidah, besides the militia's intransigence that foiled prisoner exchange talks all demonstrate that this group has no real intention to come to peace.
The Minister called on the US and Internal Community (IC) to ramp-up practical pressures upon the militia to stop violence and sit down to negotiate political solution that make peace in Yemen based on the three terms of peace reference, namely UNSCR 22016.
The US envoy reiterated his country's position that Houthis' military operations in Marib must stop and they should refrain from actions that destabilize Yemen. He stated that there is no military solution to the conflict in Yemen.
Lenderking reaffirmed his country's support for the legitimate government, unity, security and stability of Yemen.
