Yemen minister says claim of breakthrough in Safer tanker issue is misleading

A Yemeni minister has said that the claims on a breakthrough in the government-Houthi standoff over the dangerously decaying Red Sea oil tanker of Safer is misleading to the international community and the public opinion in Yemen.
Information Minister Muammar al-Eryni said, “The Houthi militia are tampering with the issue and giving empty promises” to allow the UN to undertake a salvage operation for the tanker laden with more than one million barrels of crude.
He said is no “significant progress in the efforts to prevent an imminent environmental, economic and humanitarian catastrophe that threatens Yemen and the region.”
