Social affairs minister discusses with UNICEF representatives cash remittances

Minister of Social and Labor Affairs Mohammad al-Zauri discussed Tuesday with Director of UNICEF's Office in Aden Charles Nozuki and director of projects and cash remittances management possibility of transferring the emergency cash remittances project into a fund for social care on the bases of previous signed treaty.

Zauri confirmed that the situation in the transitional capital of Aden is stable and there is a fund with qualified cadre and able to carry out the project without brokers to avoid much expenses, calling upon financing organizations and funds, including Social Fund for Development, to relocate into Aden and deposit the funds to the Central Bank of Yemen to help improve economic situation in Yemen.

He touched upon the National Protection Strategy Project as promising plan for forthcoming five years and possible support of UNICEF to the strategy, pointing out to his ministry's aspirations for expanding cooperation and partnership with international organizations, including UNICEF for providing services to people and alleviate their suffering.

For their part, the UNICEF representatives confirmed that the remittance program is supported by the World Bank and UNICEF and there are no obstacles for transferring the program into a fund for social care, showing readiness of the organization support to the national strategy for protection.

They also showed readiness of continuous meetings for dialogues and discussions for the process of transferring the remittance program into a fund on the future.
