Canada has expressed concern over potential catastrophic results on the Red Sea's environment and damages could happen if Safir Oil Tanker left without maintenance.
In a meeting between Yemen's Ambassador to Canada Jamal Assallal on Saturday with Head of General Department of the Middle East at Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jess Daton, the Canadian official renewed his country's support to efforts of the UN Secretary General and his envoy to Yemen for ending the war and regaining order in the country.
He also confirmed his country's support to humanitarian efforts and combating coronavirus pandemic in Yemen.
Assallal confirmed keenness of the government of Yemen on ending the war and realizing peace on the bases of the three agreed upon references; the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and UN Resolution 2216, renewing thanks of the government of Yemen to Canada for its political and humanitarian support to Yemen.
He pointed out to the dangerous situation of the tanker, which could lead to the greatest environmental catastrophe in the Red Sea and nearby regions if it leaks or explodes.
