RIYADH-SABA
Yemen’s Information Minister has called on the international community to force the Houthi militia to lift the five year long siege around the government-held city of Taiz and to stop killing civilians.
In a statement, Muammar al-Eryani condemned the constant Houthi shelling on houses of civilians in the neighborhoods of Almofatesh, al-Biararah, Jabal Jarrah, al-Arbeen and elsewhere in the city.
“The Houthi continue to shell overpopulated neighborhoods indiscriminately and kill women and children in cold blood,” he said. “In addition, to the five year siege on the city, a crime war and a crime against humanity.”
He called on the international community and the UN peace mediator Martin Griffiths to “assume their legal and moral obligation to stop the despicable crimes and force the militia to lift the Taiz siege in line with the Stockholm Agreement.”
