The Yemeni government has renewed its interest in ending the imposed Houthi war on the nation should the Houthi militia react to the UN peace mediator Martin Griffiths’ Joint Declaration initiative in positive way as the government did.

Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Mansour Bajjash told an Islamic ministerial conference in Niami, Niger, that the government “has positively reacted to the effort of the United Nations envoy to achieve just peace based on the agreed upon terms of reference.”

“The government has engaged with firm satisfaction in the Joint Declaration proposal … unfortunately the Houthi militia, as usual, stipulated unmeetable conditions, and resorted to stubbornness and foot-dragging to hinder the UN’s pace efforts,” he said.

He said a government will soon be formed to operate from Aden to meet the demands of the people and alleviate their suffering.
