Yemen’s political parties call for quick implementation of Riyadh Agreement

Yemen’s political parties have called for a quick implementation of the Riyadh Agreement between the government and the Southern Transitional Council which provides for sharing power and unifying ranks against the Houthi militia.

In a joint statement on Wednesday, the country’s 12 major parties called for the implementation of the Security and Military Arrangements provision, to be immediately followed by the formation of the new Cabinet with a view to “promoting security and allowing the return of political life” into the in the temporary capital city, Aden.

The statement read: “The parties of the GPC, the Reform, the Yemen Socialist, the Unionist Popular Nasserite, Al-Rashad Union, the National Solidarity, the Union of Popular Forces, the Peace and Development, the Unionist Congregation, the Arab Socialist Baath, the Arab Socialist Nationalist and the Liberation Front have all examined the developments that Yemen is going through on all political, military and economic levels mainly the aggression by Iran’s Houthi militia against Marib and populated regions in Saudi Arabia.” “These acts emphasize that the Houthis are a terrorist militia that continuously proves to the world how far it is from peace or the mere belief in it.”

The statement demanded “the international community to assume their responsibility towards the violations that the Yemeni people are exposed to at the militia’s hands, which amount to war crimes.”

The statement called on the international community “to condemn those practices, take a clear stance on them and regard them act acts of terrorism.”

The parties hailed the Saudi-led Coalition’s support to Yemen in the face of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, and hailed the performances of the Yemeni army to counter the terrorist militia and restore the Republic.

The parties also demanded the provision of support to the Yemeni army, ensuring the regular payment to the Yemeni army and sending all army units to the frontline against the Iranian affiliate militants.
