The Supreme National Emergency Committee for facing coronavirus has approved an emergency protocol for facing possible second wave of COVID-19 in Yemen amid increasing numbers of infected cases across the world.
The protocol includes a number of strategies to deal with any possible eruption of the virus and increasing readiness of the health sector for better response in addition to continuous coordination between the committee and local authorities for taking unified policies.
Prime Minister Ma'een Abdulmalik, who is the head of the committee, stressed significance of implementing a strategy for facing any possible eruption to the virus, directing all concerned bodies to take necessary measures to deal with any potential eruption of the pandemic.
He obliged concerned ministries and bodies to double coordination with Yemen's partners of donor countries and organizations for increasing readiness of the health sector for facing potential second phase of coronavirus pandemic.
The committee confirmed significance that the organizations should help the government to provide anti-polio vaccination to children and holding vaccination campaigns in provinces of Sa'ada, Hajjah, Amran and Jawf to avoid eruption of the virus to other provinces.
