UN-HABITAT holds workshop in Taiz on basic service projects

The United Nations Human Settlement Program or UN-HABITAT carried out Tuesday a workshop for discussing a report on urban planning, which included complete database on service projects and priorities needed by Taiz.

In the workshop, which was organized by the Planning and International Cooperation Office in Taiz, the Director of UN-HABITAT in Yemen Mohammad Aidrus said that the program is about to issue a complete report on urban planning to Taiz city within the project of quick surveys to Yemeni cities to tackle needs of the province districts, especially districts of al-Muzaffar, al-Qahira, and Sala, which have witnessed destruction over the war.

For his part, the Director of Planning and International Cooperation Office Nabil Jamel said that the workshop aims at discussing urban planning report to Taiz city made by UN-HABITAT for joint understanding of plans associated with those databases.

Damages in public and private establishments will be discussed to be reflected in databases for defining service needs, said Jamel.

He added that the office is working with eight international organizations for studying and defining war's effects to be transformed into project studies for the sake of reconstructions.
