Eryani says plundering shows that Houthis are merely a gang
[02/10/2020 02:53]
RIYADH-SABA
Minister of Information said that “plundering banks and money exchange businesses, and charging 30% fees on private remittances” in northwest Yemen shows that the Houthis who control the region are “merely a gang that masters nothing but plundering as well as murders and terrorism.”

In a statement to Saba, Muammar al-Eryani said, “The organized Houthi plundering of the remittances of millions of Yemenis outside Yemen and in the liberated regions within Yemen … is a criminal act and a collective punishment the militia exercises against Yemenis.”

“The Iran-backed Houthi militia were not satisfied to plunder the country’s cash reserves, revenues and salaries of public employees over five years, … but went to harass banks and money exchange businesses in order to cut the last lifeline of the Yemeni economy in their controlled region .”

“This criminal policy shows that the militia are indifferent to the humanitarian situations and even follow a starvation policy to force the public in their regions into submission and choosing to go to the militia’s warfronts as a way to earn livelihood.
