King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center signed a joint agreement with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) today to implement seven diverse projects worth 46 million US dollars for the benefit of Yemen, within the framework of the United Nations Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen for the year 2020.
The agreement was signed by the general supervisor of KSrelief, Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabiah and the UNICEF’s representative in the Gulf region, al-Tayeb Adam.
The agreement aims to support the access of covid-19 affected Yemeni children to educational opportunities through “distance” learning, to develop preparedness plans to safely return to schools, and to build the capacities of educational staff and educational institutions by providing training and awareness-raising programs to deal with the pandemic in the educational environment, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education in 20 governorates.
It alsi aims at supporting Yemeni children to get access to quality education opportunities by equipping schools with the necessary supplies to students and building the capacities of the educational staff in the governorates of Abyan, Aden, Al Bayda, Dhamar, Al Dhale'e, Al Jawf and Al Mahwit , Amanat Al Asimah, Amran, Reemah, Sa'ada, Shabwa, Taiz, Al Mahrah, Ibb, Hadramout, Marib, Sana’a, Hajjah, Hodeidah, Lahj, and Socotra.
Dr. Al-Rabiah explained that this agreement is part of the Humanitarian Response Plan for Yemen 2020, with a value of 46 million US dollars. The deal will benefit 16,851,000 individuals in Yemen.
