RIYADH - SABA
The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf, called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in taking resolute measures to stop the Houthi attacks on Marib and get the radical Yemeni militia to engage in political action without delay.

Welcoming the statement issued by the ministerial group that included the United States, China, France, Russia, Germany, Kuwait, Sweden and the European Union regarding Yemen, Al-Hajraf called on the international community and the United Nations to assume their responsibilities towards the environmental and economic disaster that might result from the inability of the specialized technical team to inspect the decaying oil tanker of Safer in the Yemeni waters.

He called on the community to exert more pressure on the Houthi militia to allow inspections of the tanker right away to avoid the disastrous repercussions of oil spill or an explosion of the rusty tanker .

He said the Houthi constant attacks on Marib undermine the efforts of the United Nations to end the crisis, and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
