FM of Kuwait, Germany, Sweden, Britain underscore peace in Yemen on the basis of three terms of reference

Kuwait, Germany, Sweden and the United Kingdom (UK) confirmed that the International Community (IC) is committed to support the sovereignty of Yemen, unity, and its territorial integrity, peace process in Yemen and the International Security Council resolutions in relevance, including the resolution 2216, GCC's Initiative, its executive mechanism and outcomes of National Dialogue Conference.

In the joint statement issued following a meeting held virtually on Thursday on the sideline of the 75 session of the UN General Assembly included the representatives of the US, China, France, Russia and High Representative of the EU to discuss the urgent need to push the political process in Yemen the Foreign Ministers of Kuwait, Germany, Sweden and the UK reiterated that an inclusive political solution is the only way that can put an end of the conflict in Yemen.

The statement called for the cessation of military escalation all over Yemen and a cease-fire at national level, fully implementing the resolution 2532.
The statement noted that the Ministers discussed in their meeting the pressing need to stop the military escalation and achieve political progress in Yemen and central issue of the economic collapse.

They confirmed full support for the UN Special Envoy to Yemen Mr. Martin Griffiths and his efforts to facilitate a joint cease-fire agreement among the Yemeni parties at national level, take humanitarian and economic measures, resume the comprehensive political process, stressing the importance of an inclusive political process that woman and youths should by fully engaged in.

The Ministers welcomed the beginning of the recent round of the prisoners-exchange negotiations in Geneva, calling on the parties to the conflict to fully implement their stated obligations in this regard.

The Foreign Ministers highlighted the dangerous threat of Safer oil tanker that poses an environmental, economic and humanitarian disaster in Yemen and the region. They called on the Houthis to ease unconditional access and secure for the UN team of experts to conduct necessary assessment and repair.
