RIYADH - SABA
Yemen’s Information Minister said the viral crime of torturing Abdullah al-Aghbari, a young man, to death in Sana’a this week “is reminiscent of the tragedy of thousands detainees” in Houthi rebel-run jails.”
In a statement to Saba, Muammar al-Eryani said the man was tortured by “a member of the Houthi self-styled Preventive Security Authority” and four other men. “It is reminiscent of the tragedy of thousands detainees in Houthi jails where are subjected to the most brutal ways of inflicting psychological and physical pain.”
“It could have gone quietly like the rest of the crimes … were the videos not leaked” to the public.
Al-Eryani lamented the “the deafening silence of the international community toward the appalling daily crimes” of the Houthi against civilians in the militia’s areas of control. He said the silence is “a shame” for the international community.
