Yemen's Information Minister said the Houthi spend millions of Yemeni Riyals on organizing the theocratic militia's "religious feasts imported from Iran", leaving the people in their areas of control to starve.
Muammar al-Eryani's statement to Saba followed Saturday's Houthi organized celebrations of Al-Wilya Day, which according to the radial Shia militia marks the day when prophet Mohammed appointed Ali Ibn Abi Taleb and his offspring as heirs in ruling Muslims.
"The Iran-backed militia continue to spend YR millions looted from the state treasury, while people … starve enduring the world's worst humanitarian crisis."
The militia reportedly spent YR 200 millions on the yesterday's Al-Wilaya Day, which they believe commemorates prophet Mohammed's appointment of Ali Ib Abi Taleb and his offspring as the ruling family for Muslims.
