The Local Authority of Marib and humanitarian partners from local, regional and international organizations discussed Thursday damages caused by heavy rains witnessed by the city of Marib on Tuesday.
Presided over by Deputy Governor of Marib Abd-Rabbu Miftah, the meeting discussed initial report issued by Management of Displaced Persons Camps in Marib on the losses, which included three death cases and 1217 displaced families have been fully affected and 4276 affected partially.
The affected displaced persons are from five camps; the City, Sirwah, Madghal, al-Wadi and Harib.
According to the report, shelters and food and shelter substances were damaged, pointing out that this disaster is the second one in three months and suffering of the displaced people have been complicated.
The report confirmed urgent need for emergency interferences for alleviating suffering of affected displaced persons. The interferences should include 1217 shelters, 5484 shelter materials,1217 intervention cases in field of water and sanitation and 5484 food parcels.
The meeting also discussed instant interferences could be contributed by humanitarian activities partners and unifying all efforts of blocs of shelters, water, sanitation, food and health and putting them in one parcel for facing emergency humanitarian disaster.
Making joint emergency plan for facing potential numbers of affected people from rainy weather and heavy rains was also discussed.
