Environment ministry calls upon SC to adopt Safir Tanker's issue

The Ministry of Water and Environment has called upon the UN Security Council to adopt the issue of Safir Oil Tanker to find a solution to this timely bomb swimming on the Red Sea by draining the tanker to avoid environmental catastrophe threatening marine lives.

In a release it has issued Wednesday, the ministry's confirmed significance of protection of coral reefs across the world's seas against environment change and especially the nature of the conflict in the region, taking into consideration that the tanker is environmental threat to all.

The ministry pointed out it is so keen and has hope that the Security Council will address the oil tanker in its today's secession and it hopes that the session will come out with resolutions tackling the conceivable dangerous environmental catastrophe if the tanker leaks or sinks off Hodeida's coasts.

The ministry expressed hope that the whole international community will be aware of the huge environmental damages could be resulted from the explosion of the tanker or its leaking as it will kill rare marine lives exit only in the Red Sea, in addition to other economic and social effects.
