Yemen's Ministry of Information condemned the kidnapping of Abdullah Bedahen a journalist in Socotra at the hands of the STC separatist militiamen who captured the archipelago on Friday.
In a statement on Monday, the ministry said, "The kidnapping is an episode in the series of rebel crimes that targeted journalists and activists in Aden, and the indigenous people of Socotra."
The ministry said the STC militia are fully responsible for the life of the hostage demanding "his immediate and unconditional release and a ceassation of atrocities and incitements against journalists."
The ministry called on the international rights organizations to condemn the STC's "blatant atrocities against journalists and harassment of opinion makers."
