ADEN - SABA
Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Ibtihaj al-Kamal participated Wednesday in the Second Exceptional Meeting of Arab Woman Committee.
The meeting, which has been held through video conference, discusses effects and repercussions of corona virus (COVID 19) on woman and girl.
Saudi Arabia is presiding over the meeting.
" Corona pandemic has affected Yemen in general and woman and girl in particular, especially under crises and wars the country experiences for more than five years … in addition to increasing grand violations of human rights by the militia against child and woman," said al-Kamal.
She added that Yemen- since the rise of the first case of corona virus on April, 10,2020- has had already made precautionary plans including awareness programs and training monitoring teams and providing necessary materials for protection against the pandemic.
She made it clear that the pandemic doubled the additional burdens on Yemeni women over difficult economic situations, pointing out to coordination with UN organizations for providing support.
Yemen has taken necessary measures like other countries despite weak capabilities and started working with international organizations and agreed with them on carrying out some projects associated with social protection.
