[03/06/2020 07:04]

RIYADH- SABA
Yemen's Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik pointed to the need to reconsider the priorities for spending the donations Yemen was promised in yesterday's pledging conference in Riyadh.

In a phone conversation with the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Sigrid Kaag today, Abdulmalik said the support needs to be allocated in accordance with a clear mechanism.

He said it is important to "exploit the pledged amounts in an effective way to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people."
He hailed the Dutch-Yemeni relationships and said the Dutch pledge of USD 18 million is an extension of the ever-present good history of the Dutch (support) in Yemen.

He noted that peace remains the top thing Yemenis need as coronavirus joins the list of Yemeni miseries.

"The government agreed to the ceasefire called for by the UN Secretary General and his Special Envoy … but unfortunately the Houthi militia rejected the overture and continued its military escalation in all fronts," he said.

He said the militia is keeping the world in the dark about the coronavirus outbreak in its controlled territories and intimidating doctors and the general public" to shut up and cover up on the infected cases.
