The local authorities in Yemen's coronavirus-infested city of Taiz approved strict measures on Friday to contain the global pandemic in the country's southwestern city.
The Emergency Committee on Coronavirus in a meeting decided to soon close mosques and restaurant services save for the takeaway, start a massive spray campaign to disinfect the city, close the Qat markets, impose a curfew, and force shopkeepers and workers to put on masks and gloves on duty.
By Friday, the authorities reported 40 infection cases and more than seven deaths in the city.
Among several devastating impacts, a six year Houthi military siege around Taiz has left the city's health system in tatters.
