High- profile joint meeting held on Friday via videoconference brought together the government's team headed by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Najib al-Aweg and the World Bank (WB) team led by Regional Director of Yemen, Egypt and Djibouti Marina Wes.
The discussions dealt with the current and new WB portfolio of the projects in Yemen.
The Country Director of WB Office in Yemen Raja Qatan provided an overall assessment of the WB projects. The WB team also cited the current projects of the portfolio including urban integrated services projects, response to emergency and crisises projects, urgent response to provide electricity, health care, nutrition and response to coronavirus.
The WB new portfolio of the projects also reviewed, most important projects are the Yemeni Education Project, the Project of Rehabilitation of Water and Sanitation.
The Response to Coronavirus Project reviewed as well, it is set to include major interventions in water and sanitation sector.
It is important to note that the WB current portfolio is no 18 and the new one no 19 will start from July 2020.
