Council of Ministers convenes extraordinary session to discuss the recent developments

The Council of Ministers held an extraordinary meeting on Saturday presided over by Prime Minister Dr. Ma'een Abdulmalik.

The session which held via videoconference devoted to discuss the latest developments about the political, military and health situations in view of the recent developments with the aim of controlling coronavirus, reacting constructively to the UN's recent endeavors to unite efforts and establish cease fire.

The Prime Minister reiterated the government and political leadership adherence to the peace that is based on the three terms of reference including the GCC's Infinitive, outcomes of National Dialogue and UNSCRs in relevance above all 2216.

Dr. Ma'een stated that the government has taken the measures to establish a comprehensive cease-fire in a response to the call of the Chief of the UN to devote efforts and resources to combat coronavirus pandemic.

The Foreign Minister Mohammed al-Hadrami reported to the Cabinet about the UN's efforts to establish a cease-fire and mobilize efforts to handle coronavirus challenge.

The Cabinet re-welcomed every effort and proposal may put an end of the Yemeni peoples' suffering in line with the three terms of references of the political settlement.

The Deputy Premier, Chair of the Emergency Committee tasked with managing coronavirus challenge Dr. Salim al-Khanbashi briefed the Cabinet on the measures taken in view of registering the first case of coronavirus infection in Hadramout.

The Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Nasser Ba-aum detailed the Cabinet about the first confirmed case of infection and the practical measures taken to deal with.

The Council of Ministers has approved allotting 5 billion Yemeni Rial (YR) in additional support to boost health sector's capacities.

The Minister of Defense (Lt Gen) Mohammed al-Madashi provided a detailed report about the combat operations in different fronts. He affirmed the national military commitment to the truce meanwhile the militia doesn't.

The Council of Ministers denounced the execution verdicts issued by the Houthi rebel militia against four journalists were kidnapped, detained and tortured by the militiamen for more than five years.

The Cabinet called on the International Community (IC), UN and IFJ to take clear stance toward this serious escalation which comes amid the calls for de-escalations.
