A workshop for training 32 Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation trainers on agricultural extension was concluded in Aden today. The five-day workshop was implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) with funding from Saudi Arabia.

The workshop, part of an emergency support project for agricultural livelihoods for the most vulnerable households in Yemen, discussed a number of basic concepts related to the modern methods of agricultural extension, skills of agricultural crop production, and how to convey to farmers the knowledge of raising, feeding animals and maintaining animal wellbeing.

The workshop targets 6 governorates with the aim of providing modern programs and strategies on agricultural extension that help support the ability of households to maintain food production and provide food for 70,000 families across three types of interventions that include poultry production, improving agricultural and animal production and improving the livelihoods of vulnerable groups living in Yemen's coastal areas through rehabilitating the fish infrastructure.
