Parliament Speaker Sultan al-Barakani discussed with UK Ambassador to Yemen Simon Smart on Thursday latest developments in Yemen.

Al-Barakani praised keenness of the United Kingdom on realizing security and peace in Yemen and its support to the internationally- recognized government, pointing to Houthi militia's rejection of implementing the UN resolutions and agreements, the most recent one Sweden Agreement, causing failure to peace process.

He confirmed that Houthi recent aggressions aimed at halting peace process and destabilizing the region.

He renewed that the government supports efforts of the UN for realizing inclusive and just peace in accordance with the UN resolutions led by Resolution 2216.

He pointed to the humanitarian suffering by the Yemeni people and recent Houthi militia's procedures on economy, imposing limitations on personal freedoms of the citizens, looting humanitarian assistances and other violations affecting Yemeni people.

For his part, the UK diplomat confirmed keenness on supporting Yemeni people and protecting their interests and realizing security and stability, pointing to significance of implementing Riyadh Agreement.

He confirmed that the kingdom exerts efforts for implementing agreements and realizing peace for ending suffering of the Yemeni people.
