Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Najeeb al-Awej has presided over Yemen's delegation in the first meeting of the UNDP's Executive Board headed by the Regional Director in Yemen Auke Lootsma for discussing projects and programs in Yemen, challenges facing implementation and ways of improving performance.

The meeting, which included Minister of Local Administration Abdul-Raqeeb Fatah and Minister of Justice from Yemen's delegation and project officers from the UNDP, also discussed the regional and habituation management for the program to be in consistence with the current political and security conditions.

Al-Awej confirmed significance of suitability of foundations of the UNDP's interventions in accordance with needs and national priorities to contribute in economic recovery and improving livelihoods, creating work opportunities and restoring basic services.

Meanwhile, Minister of Local Administration Abdul-Raqeeb Fatah, who is also the Head of the Supreme Relief Committee, confirmed that the government is responsible on all Yemeni people across the homeland and is responsible on communication with the international organizations on allocating aid and assistances and directing them towards livelihoods and the economic recovery after years of relief support.

The Minister of Justice Ali al-Gharib reviewed significance of the institutional coordination of the organization's project targeting courts, prosecutions and ministry of justice and just evaluation of improving security condition and suitable environment in many provinces.

For his part, Lootsma reviewed mechanism of transfer from relief activity to development via new program for flexible response of local needs, facilitating beneficiaries' access, addressing weak improvement and adopting projects supporting environment changes like solar energy projects and supporting agricultural projects.

He also pointed out to other projects of the UNDP for building peace and local stability via rehabilitating ports, information management and different sectors planning.
