Governor of Abyan General Abu Bakr Salem inspected Tuesday the ongoing work of cleaning irrigation channels project in Delta Abyan.

The project is being carried out by CARE International and financed by World Food Program in the framework of Cash for Labor Project.

Governor Salem directed swift implementation of these works for protecting water channels, praising CARE's projects in the province.
The project includes cleaning and maintenance work of the channels in Abr Othman, Ras al-Ghor, Sa'ad al-Saud Channel, al-Ramlah and al-Tawilah and will cover 15,000 acres.

CARE's Field Officer in Abyan Engineer Iskander Bashuraimah said the project boosts livelihood in Yemeni countryside via benefiting from floods water for irrigating agricultural lands.

Then, Governor Salem inspected brick paving roads of Zonjubar City's streets in the framework of rehabilitating infrastructure in the city financed by the UN.

He stressed removing unplanned construction hindering the ongoing paving works.

Governor Salem also inspected rehabilitating Martyrs Square Project and ongoing maintenance work of Agricultural Ministry's Office, directing taking care of agricultural production and encouraging farmers on cultivating cotton and different crops.
