ADEN-SABA
Prime Minister Dr. Ma'een Abdulmalik has made it clear that any reckless endeavors aiming to damage the national currency will never be tolerated by the government." Per President Hadi's directives the government is authorized to take every necessary measure to maintain the national currency. His statement came as he presided over a meeting of the board of directors of the Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) held Wednesday in the interim capital Aden.

The session devoted to discuss the CBY's action-plan of 2020 that is designed to redress irregularities of the institutional structure, keep on building up monetary reserves and maintain the value of the national currency.

The discussions touched upon several precaution measures aiming to maintain the exchange rate of the national currency, provide liquidity, revive the cycle of monetary and secure salaries regular pay.

The Prime Minister warned of the dangerous consequences of the Houthi rebel militia's illegal measures to ban dealing with newly issued national currency banknotes. He said "Such illegal and irresponsible measures will make it difficult to pay tens of thousands of pensioners and government's employees in the militia controlled regions".

Ma'een called on the UN, WB, IMF and International Community (IC) to bear their responsibility toward the Houthi militia's irresponsible and destructive measures.
