Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Dr. Ebtihaj al-Kamal, stressed the need to empower Arab women in all fields.
"Women have fought in the last century, and since the end of the nineteenth century, a stubborn struggle for their rights, and they have demonstrated outstanding competence in many fields. Later generatons of women then reaped the outcomes of the earlier pioneers sowed," she said in address at the third session of the Arab-Chinese Women's Forum held in the Saudi capital on Dec. 19
She pointed out that during the last two decades of the current century, the rate of representation of women in decision-making positions increased and obtained more than 94 seats in the successive governments of Arab countries."
She said, "If efforts continue to encourage and empower women in their rights, this will lead to increased representation of women and their active presence in all decision-making spheres" including the political and scientific spheres.
