Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Braik arrived Wednesday in the Emirati capital Abu Dhabi on an official visit in response to an invitation from the leadership of the sisterly United Arab Emirates.

Planning Minister, WB's leaders revise 2019 projects in Yemen

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Najeeb al-Awej discussed Monday with the Regional Director of World Bank Group Marina Weis, the Regional Director of World Bank in Yemen Rja'aQattan and project officers the WB's projects package for 2019 and evaluated their implementation.

Al-Awej praised good level of partnership with the organization and its support to Yemen during these difficult conditions with projects package includes five major projects worth USD 1.76 billion in fields of food and agriculture, modern services, alternative energy and road maintenance and lightening them.

The meeting touched upon taking care of displaced people, who represent big number of society due to war triggered by Houthi militia, providing health care to displaced families and qualifying and training them.

The planning minister stressed significance of taking care of the private sector and providing suitable environment for encouraging Yemeni capital for investing and creating work opportunities to youth.

He pointed out to significance of this meeting, which is preceding the organization's annual meetings to be held on October and provides a chance for exchanging viewpoints on implementing projects and creating solutions for overcoming challenges facing these projects.

He stressed importance of transferring from emergent relief and humanitarian projects into development ones and rehabilitating infrastructure helping in making foundations for economic recovery and reconstruction in the future.

The convening officials agreed on holding a meeting next November between the ministry and the WB and the rest development partners like UN agencies and international organizations working in Yemen.
