RIYADH-SABA
Yemen's deputy foreign ministers and ambassadors to foreign countries are meeting foreign diplomats and other officials to bring to the notice of their countries the UAE's recent turning against Yemen's UN-recognized government and offering of armed support to anti-government rebels.
Vice Foreign Minister, the Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs and the ministry's ambassadors in different countries met officials from different countries including Switzerland, Italy, and Austria, Oman and from the European Union to raise the UAE support to the Southern Transitional Council, a separatist militia that overthrew the government from Aden port last month.
The Yemeni officials said the UAE has even supported the southern separatist militia with air strikes when the government forced sought to retake the temporary capital. They said the militia is carrying out wide abuses against peaceful oppositionists in its areas of control now.
They said the government has no problem with entering into dialogue with the separatist militia, as called upon by Saudi Arabia, but the UAE's turn against the Yemeni government, contrary to the mission of the Arab Coalition of which it is a member, has to overtop all discussions.
