ADEN-SABA
Yemen's Information Minister said the timing of the terror attacks that struck the temporary capital Aden and were claimed by ISIL on Friday raises more than one question mark on who masterminded then and who benefits from them.
In a statement to Saba, Muammar al-Eryani said the attacks were engineered "to serve as messages to the world that the government and armed forces driven out of the capital city [by UAE-backed separatists on August 1] have links to terrorism."
"The rise of terror attacks in southern provinces is the responsibility of those who undermined the government and its security authorities; assigned the security tasks of Aden to inexperienced and regionalist militias; spread an atmosphere of chaos and violence; and afforded a conducive environment for terrorist groups."
He added: "We as a government affirm our commitment to fighting terrorist and extremist groups. We also condemn all terrorist acts including the Southern Transitional Council's mass killing and torture of civilians, a handiwork identical to that of ISIL, al-Qaeda and Houthis."
