RIYADH-SABA
King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has extended its landmine clearance initiative (MASAM) one more year in Yemen at an amount of $30,495,000.
MASAM is part of a $40 million initiative by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) from 2018. Several mine experts from Saudi Arabia and other countries are involved in removing mines left by the Houthi armed militia in Marib, Aden, Sana'a and Taiz.
The contract extension is out of KSrelief's sense of humanitarian obligation towards the brotherly people in Yemen, said KSrelief's general supervisor Abdullah al-Rabi'ah.
Hundreds of Yemeni civilians have died or lost limbs as a result of these mines in several parts of the country.
