Health Ministry, WHO discuss cooperation, partnership

Deputy Minister of Public Health and Population for Primary Health Care Ali Al-Walidi and the WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Dr Ahmed Al-Manthari discussed today the mechanisms of cooperation and partnership between the Ministry and the Organization.
The meeting focused on the health situations and status of emergency hospital departments across Yemen, including the spread of fevers and acute water diarrhea and cholera in some governorates.
The two sides agreed that the WHO shall provide Yemen with a number of experts in the area of fevers and take samples of suspected fevers from the national Central Laboratory to check them to ascertain the nature and type of viruses in circulation in Yemen.
The two sides also agreed to organize special training courses on the methodology of tackling dengue fever in a number of governorates, to intensify health awareness campaigns and provide laboratories with medical equipment.
