Yemen, UK discuss reactivating Redeployment Committee's role

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad al-Hadhrami discussed Sunday with UK Charge d'Affairs to Yemen Fuenna Walker peace efforts.
Praising support of the United Kingdom to Yemen, al-Hadhrami confirmed significance of activating the role of the Redeployment Committee and significance of monitoring mechanism and real withdrawal of Houthis from Hodeida's ports.
He confirmed government's keenness on making peace efforts successful on the bases of the three references; the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and UN Resolution 2216.
He pointed out that the government will react positively with efforts of UN envoy to Yemen for correcting peace track in accordance to the three references.
But he confirmed that this does not mean their acceptance of Houthi play of unilateral withdrawal, rather the government will focus on correcting peace process.
He made it clear that the authority of the UN regarding implementation of Hodeida Agreement must be abided by and that the authority of the Redeployment Committee and UN Mission for implementing Hodeida Agreement does not include renegotiation on Stockholm agreement but on withdrawal of Houthis from Hodeida city and its ports.
He confirmed that silence on Houthi hindrance of the agreement during the UN mediation does not help the UN envoy but complicate his task.
For her part, the UK diplomat renewed her country's support to the government of Yemen and to efforts of the UN envoy, confirming keenness of the UK on realizing just and sustainable peace in Yemen.
