Lack of monitoring troop withdrawals in Hodeiah 'a clear violation' of Stockholm Agreement
[15/05/2019 02:58]

BERLIN-SABA
Yemen's Ambassador to Germany Yahya al-Shoaybi said that lack of monitoring troop withdrawals in Hodeidah is a clear violation of the Stockholm Agreement signed between the government and the Houthis in Sweden on December 13.

In a meeting with the Head of Middle East Divion at German Foreign Office Michael Ohnmacht following the rebel militia's claim of unilateral withdrawal from the city's ports, al-Shoaybi said the government is committed to the UN resolutions and to the Stockholm Agreement which provides for the monitoring of the withdrawals and redeployments by a panel composed of the UN, the Yemeni government and the militia.

"Lack of monitoring withdrawals is a clear violation that does not help reach peace," he said.

Al-Shoaybi pointed out that the coupist militia is still opening new warfronts and recruiting and deploying child fighters there. "These are all indicators of the lack of seriousness about peace" on the part of the Houthis, he said.
