Houthi militia destroyed 2600 schools, says minister

Minister of Education Dr Abdullah Lamlas said the ongoing war has been waging by the putschist Houthi militia has damaged more than 2600 schools in different Yemeni governorate, noting that Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has largely contributed to manage many challenges facing educational drive in Yemen.

Lamlas's statement came as he was speaking at launching a project titled" Together for Education in Yemen. The Project launched on Sunday by KSrelief Center in collaboration with Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Command of Saudi-led Arab Coalition Forces here in Saudi capital Riyadh.

Commander of Joint Forces Command Prince Fahd bin Turki bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Information Muamer al-Iryani and Minister of Local Administration Abduraqeeb Fatah were in attendance.

The project is set to provide over 50 thousand of schools chairs and desks will be distributed to 14 Yemeni governorate.

Speaking on launching the project, General Supervisor of KSrelief Center DrAbullahArrabiah stated that Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has carried out humanitarian, relief and development in Yemen with total cost $11.88 billion.

For his part, Minister of Education in the Kingdom Hamad al-Asheikh said the Kingdom leadership allocated 1200 scholarships per year for the Yemeni students at the Saudi Universities.
