[18/04/2019 06:28]

ADEN-SABA
Minister of Local Administration, the Head of the Supreme Relief Committee Abdul-Raqeeb Fatah has demanded Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief CoordinatorMark Lowcock and UN Humanitarian Coordinator Lisa Grande quick intervention for protecting employees of relief agencies in Houthi-held areas.

" Houthi militia have detained 20 employees of France Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED) -the partner of the World Food Program in implementing relief projects- and banned them depart BaniQais District in Hajja, blocked their road, investigated them and seized their passparts," said Fatah in a press release to Saba on Thursday.

He added that Houthi militia banned access of 10, 000 displaced people in a displacement camp in Hajja to emergency help by international organization.

He pointed out that the UN and international organizations are subjected to Houthi militia's blackmailing while implementing relief and humanitarian projects in provinces of Hajja, Amran, Mahweet and Sana'a, confirming that the government works on providing all needed support and facilitations to implement humanitarian projects in Yemen.

Fatah called upon the international community to shoulder legal and more responsibility to protect employees of relief agencies and of United Nations in Yemen and pressure Houthi militia to stop its interferences in relief activities.
