Parliament speaker hails US support for government, peaceful solution

Speaker of the Parliament Sultan Al-Barakani hailed the United States' support to the government and its keenness on securing a peaceful solution to the Yemeni conflict.

In a meeting with the US Ambassador to Yemen Matthew Tueller, he expressed his appreciation for the ambassador's efforts and his country's stand in support of the security, stability and unity of Yemen and the restoration of its state and constitutional institutions.Al-Barakani stressed that the resuming of the parliament's sessions represents an important step in the restoration of state institutions and gave the Yemeni people a ray of hope that the their suffering caused by the Houthi coupist militia may be coming to an end.

The Speaker said that Yemen's lawmakers support peace based on the three terms of reference for peace; the Gulf Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and the UN Security Council resolutions, especially resolution no. 2216 (2015).

Whoe praising the UN peace brokerage attempts, he said the Yemeni government has presented significant concessions in different peace talks with a view to reaching peace . He said that the needed implementation of the latest Stockholm Agreement will determine if Houthis desire peace or not.
