RIYADH-SABA
Minister of Foreign Affairs Khaled al-Yemany discussed on Sunday with the UN Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths latest developments on implementing Stockholm agreement and obstacles hindered implementation of the first phase of the agreement.
Al-Yemany renewed government's commitment on implementing Stockholm agreement fully on the bases of direct instructions from President Abd-Rabbo Mansour Hadi, pointing to continuous stubbornness by Houthi militia for failing the agreement after passing more than a hundred days on declaring it in Sweden.
He added that the failure of implementing Stockholm agreement will reflect badly on realizing peace in Yemen and will limit chances of realizing political settlement and that the implementation of the agreement requires more international pressure on Houthi rebel militia.
For his part, the UN envoy touched upon his efforts for achieving accomplishment in implementing the agreement and steps made by the Head of UN Redeploying Committee in Hodeida for solving controversial issues.
He confirmed that the UN and the International Community are keen on granting a chance for peace through implementation of the agreement and that the UN is committed to President Hadi's suggestion on monitoring withdrawal through triple committees from the UN, the government and Houthis.
