Yemen seeks debt pardon from Kuwait

KUWAIT-SABA

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Najeeb al-Awj discussed Monday with Kuwaiti Minister of Finance Nayef al-Hajraf pardoning Yemen from the old debt Yemen owed to the State of Kuwait since 1970s and estimated at USD 50 million.

He also demanded the Kuwaiti party to fulfill Yemen's commitment to the Arab Development Fund reach USD 200 million.

He discussed with Kuwaiti officials a number of economic issues and the role of the State of Kuwait for supporting Yemen's development programs.

Kuwaiti Finance Minister confirmed keenness of his country's government on supporting development in Yemen via supporting financial and economic fields.

Minister of Planning praised Kuwaiti generous support which included recent pledge of providing USD 250 million to Yemen in Geneva Donor Conference.
